Can I install CommentLane yet?

The Chrome extension is being prepared for public release. This website currently offers a labeled product preview. A verified Chrome Web Store installation link will be added when the extension is available.

Google sign-in is blocked

Use the Google account that has access to your CommentLane documents. During the current release preparation, Google may restrict sign-in to approved accounts. Contact support with the exact message if you are unable to connect. A Google verification or access error should be resolved through the app’s configuration or your account administrator.

A shared group will not open

Google’s document-sharing permission and permission for CommentLane to open a file are separate. The current build can load connected group documents; connecting a newly shared document is still being completed. You can read and reply in an accessible group’s Google Doc while that flow is unavailable. Ask the document owner if Google itself says you do not have access.

A comment or reply has not synced

Open the Library and choose Sync. Check the active Google account, your network connection and the group’s error message. Google may temporarily limit requests; CommentLane preserves the last complete cache and retries with a delay.

If a save says it is waiting for Google’s confirmation, keep the draft and sync again. CommentLane checks whether the earlier write arrived before deciding what to do next. Creating a second copy of an uncertain message can lead to duplicates.

Comments do not appear on a webpage

Enable the site from the extension’s toolbar popup, check that comments are not paused or hidden, and confirm the group is not archived. Some browser pages and specialized websites cannot support overlays. If the original text moved, disappeared or appears more than once, the conversation remains available in the Library with its saved context.

Why does Chrome mention browsing history?

Chrome’s navigation permission lets CommentLane check the current page and its document identity so comments appear on the correct page. The extension uses page context for its commenting features. Read the privacy policy for the data it handles and how site permissions work.

Disconnect, export or remove data

Disconnect from the Library’s Google controls. Download JSON in Settings exports the active account’s currently loaded conversations and drafts. Export unsent work before uninstalling the extension.

Google documents and their sharing remain in Google Drive after disconnecting or uninstalling. Manage those documents in Drive or Docs and revoke authorization in your Google account connections. For details about retained drafts, caches and exports, see your privacy controls.
